1. Start with your situation
Tell us which service you need, the tax year or business milestone involved and whether a deadline is approaching. Keep your first message brief; save sensitive documents for the agreed document-sharing process.
2. Define the engagement
We review the information available and outline the work, exclusions, fees and responsibilities. Additional services are discussed separately when the assignment changes.
3. Gather the right records
Use the checklist for your engagement to organize documents. Prior returns, income statements, ownership records or business books may be relevant. Missing information is identified before work proceeds.
4. Prepare and discuss
We work through the agreed assignment and bring unresolved questions back to you. Review the draft or proposed action, confirm the information and ask for clarification where needed.
5. Authorize and complete
Approve the agreed filing or deliverable through the applicable process. A submitted filing and an accepted filing are different milestones; follow-up depends on the service and engagement scope.
6. Keep your records and plan ahead
Retain the final documents and discuss any follow-up work. A new year, ownership change or additional jurisdiction may require a new review.
