An extension can give you additional time to prepare your federal individual income tax return. It generally does not move the date by which your tax must be paid. Keeping those two tasks separate helps you plan the work still outstanding. IRS extension guidance
Check The Applicable Deadline
Review the tax year, return type and any relief that applies to your circumstances. Overseas situations and disaster relief can involve different rules. Do not assume another person’s filing date applies to your return.
Organize The Payment Information
Bring your income records, withholding information and payments already made to the discussion. The remaining preparation work and the amount that needs to be paid are related questions, but they are not the same task.
Keep The Confirmation
If you request an extension through a supported IRS process, retain its confirmation and the payment record. Put the remaining documents and filing work on a separate checklist.
Discuss The Next Step
If a deadline is approaching or has passed, identify what was filed, what was paid and what remains unresolved. Contact Fiscora to discuss the assignment.
