Track More Than Tax Forms
Keep platform summaries, invoices and payment records together. Include cash receipts and payments received outside an app. Compare the records so the same income is not counted twice.
Organize Expenses Separately
Keep receipts and a description of each business expense. Identify mixed personal and business use rather than treating every purchase as deductible. The allowable treatment depends on the activity and supporting records.
Bring A Complete Picture
Prepare a summary of your work, income sources and records available. Include any tax forms received and questions about missing or inconsistent statements.
Plan During The Year
Annual filing is one part of the discussion. Read our estimated-tax guide and bookkeeping guide, then discuss the work needed.
